The interest group on rewilding are meeting again on Thursday, 23rd October, at 7.30 p.m. at Jill’s house. Please message me (or email anyone involved in Transition) for her address.
We’ve got various things to discuss, not least moving forward on planning a public meeting. Please let us know if you can think of anyone who knows what they’re talking about on this issue: we’re going to try to make sure a variety of views are represented.
In the meantime, we have a distant date for you: The Platt’s Wood Project, a community woodland in Hayfield*, will be having a tree-planting day on 6th December. Some of us will be going along, and you’d be very welcome if you would like to help, and learn more about this lovely venture. We’ll confirm the date nearer the time, and arrange car shares.
(Apologies – not Chapel as first stated.)
See https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Platts-Wood-Project/312882075530947?fref=ts for more details.
I hope to see some of you at the meeting on 23rd October.
Best regards,
Jane Ayres
Apologies – the original wording above stated that the Platt’s Wood Project was in Chapel, when of course it’s in Hayfield.
Rewilding seems rather futile until we have removed Himalayan balsam. We should be talking to the local council about that. Mitch Date: Mon, 29 Sep 2014 23:24:46 +0000 To: plectrummitchell26@hotmail.com
I don’t think they need be mutually exclusive, though actually DCC and Transition volunteers achieved DCC’s removal target for this area this year, so it should be less of a problem next year. They did some amazing work.
