If you do, then there’s something you can do to keep it going. We’re calling on all our Transition followers to ask if they could consider helping out at this year’s Festival Lantern Procession, one of the cultural highlights of the New Mills calendar. This fantastic event relies on the input of volunteers to make it happen, so if you’re not doing anything else that afternoon or evening, why not lend a hand?
There’s a variety of roles available, from the exciting to the more mundane-but-still -necessary; help marshal the procession, look after a fire eater, put up lighting, build a gazebo, direct traffic or help with the shadow screens and other fire effects down in The Torrs: the list is endless!
If you’d like to find out what’s involved, there’s two Volunteer Training evenings, Friday 11th September for Lantern Workshops,
Wednesday 23rd September for the Lantern Procession,
7pm – 9pm, New Mills Library Lecture Room, Hall St
Come along and find out how you can be involved!

Transition New Mills is keen on local groups helping each other, and is very grateful to the Festival for inclusion of balsam bashing events as part of the public liability insurance package.
