The New Mills Community Orchard’s Apple Day celebrations will be in the High Lea orchard on Sunday 27th Sept, 2pm-4pm.

For growers, you can bring any excess garden produce you may have to swap with others, and peruse the Orchard’s extensive book collection for advice and inspiration (normally housed at New Mills Library). There will be all sorts of other entertainment for the whole family.

You are welcome to come along to the Transition ‘Green Drinks’, held on the 3rd Thursday of each month 7:30-9pm, Royal Oak pub.

In initial half hour the Admin Group will be mainly discussing Transition business, including progress of projects and some administrative stuff; others are welcome to join us. Then from 8, the discussion can be on anything you want! We’d love to see members, non-members, anyone with an interest.

The meeting on the 17th September will celebrate the end of this year’s Himalayan Balsam bashing season, and include the prize draw for those who have participated in the project this year. If you’ve pulled any balsam this year, do come down!

The wonderful prizes up for grabs for balsam bashers this year, very kindly donated by the businesses involved, are:

The Torrs – Tea/Coffee & Cake for 2
Llamedos – Tea/Coffee & Cake for 2
Pulse – A £10 voucher
Manchester Giants family ticket
Spring Bank Arts Film Club – 2 x pairs of tickets

Following this Thursday, future Green Drinks will be on:

  • 15th Oct
  • 19th Nov
  • 17th Dec

Hope to see you there,
